“I’m after the soul of the commonest objects—road- flattened metal, wood, plastic detritus that, when combined with paint speaks to the ethical decay and ecological poison of the day. But in a good way! My ambition first and foremost is beauty. Beauty for a world inured to tragedy. I think “nature” and “man-made” are an unnecessary, even false opposition, and my intent is to glamorize our descent—glum, neutered, and techno-crazy into a future of pleasing decay.”
